Privacy & Security You Can Trust

Location Friends Track was built with a privacy-first philosophy. Your GPS data belongs to you and your family — no one else.

You Control Who Sees Your Location

Location sharing in Location Friends Track is always opt-in. Every family member must explicitly accept an invitation and grant location permissions on their device before their position appears on the map. There is no way for another user to track someone without their knowledge or consent.

You can pause sharing at any time with a single tap. When paused, the app stops transmitting your coordinates entirely — other circle members simply see that you are "offline." There are no hidden background updates, no silent tracking, and no override by other users.

We Never Sell Your Data

Location Friends Track does not sell, rent, or share your GPS data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. Our business model is based on an optional premium subscription — not on monetising your personal information.

We do not build advertising profiles from your location history. We do not track which stores you visit, which routes you take, or how often you leave home. Your data exists solely to power the features you use — live location sharing, place alerts, movement history, and the SOS emergency button.

Minimal data collection policy — only what's needed for location sharing

Minimal Data Collection

We collect only the data required to deliver core functionality: your phone number for account creation, your GPS coordinates for map display, and basic device information for crash diagnostics. We do not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or any other sensor beyond location.

Movement history is stored for a limited window and is automatically purged after the retention period expires. You can also delete your history manually at any time from within the app. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

Secure Infrastructure

Our backend runs on industry-standard cloud infrastructure with TLS 1.3 encryption for all network traffic, automatic security patches, and regular third-party penetration testing. Access to production systems is restricted to a small engineering team with multi-factor authentication and audit logging.

We follow the principle of least privilege: every service has access only to the data it needs and nothing more. Database backups are encrypted at rest, and all inter-service communication is authenticated and encrypted. Our goal is to make Location Friends Track the most secure family GPS tracker on the market.

Privacy & Security FAQ

Can someone track me without my knowledge?

No. You must accept an invitation and enable location permissions on your device before anyone can see your position. You can revoke access or pause sharing at any time.

What happens to my data if I delete my account?

All personal data — including location history, circle memberships, and profile information — is permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days of account deletion.

Do you share data with law enforcement?

We will only provide data in response to a valid legal process such as a court order. We do not voluntarily share user data with any government agency. Due to end-to-end encryption, the data we can provide is limited.

Is location data used for advertising?

Never. We do not serve ads, build advertising profiles, or share any data with ad networks. Our revenue comes exclusively from optional premium subscriptions.
